Sutter Coast Hospital Named wattsmart Business Partner of the Year for Energy Efficiency Leadership
Crescent City, Calif. — Sutter Coast Hospital has been named a 2016 wattsmart Business Partner of the Year for its leadership in energy efficiency.
Sutter Coast recently completed energy-saving equipment retrofits at its medical office building and hospital facilities in Crescent City. These projects included interior lighting, parking lot lighting and heating/cooling equipment upgrades such as digital controls upgrades, and water loop controls.
Since 2012, Sutter Coast has completed five energy efficiency projects in partnership with Pacific Power. In total, these projects yield 801,475 kilowatt-hours per year of energy savings, enough to power approximately 51 typical homes in the Crescent City area for a year.
“As a community hospital, we are always looking for ways to improve our services and overall community health,” said Mitch Hanna, CEO of Sutter Coast Hospital. “I am very thankful that we are able to work with such a great partner who values sustainable practices and effective solutions.”
Through this partnership, Pacific Power provided more than $118,000 in wattsmart Business incentives to help make these projects possible. As a result, Sutter Coast Hospital was able to reduce operating costs by approximately $74,000 annually.
“Sutter Coast Hospital is a proven leader in taking on innovative projects that unlock real savings and allow the hospital to focus on its core mission, taking care of the people of Del Norte County,” said Monte Mendenhall, regional business manager for Pacific Power. “It is great to help them in this mission and honoring them as a Business Partner of the Year is a way of showing how highly we value their commitment to energy efficiency.”
